Who's Who

Section: Living History
What is your role and title at War & Peace?: Part of the Gulf War living history group.
Are you happy in your role or is there something else you would prefer to do?: Very happy.
How many years have you been involved in War & Peace and why did you become involved?: 10 years. 6 with a vehicle, 4 without.
What do your friends and family think of your involvement, do they support you and in what way?: My family think it is a fantastic show and look forward to it each year. They normally attend for the whole week.
Do you travel far to War & Peace, how do you get there and in what?: Approximately 40-45 miles each way. We travel in our Land Rovers and support vehicles.
Why do you keep coming back for more?: We really enjoy the show, it is great for all the family and we enjoy displaying our vehicles and equipment for the public and others with a military interest.
What do you enjoy most about War & Peace and what could you add to it?: All the exhibits, the social aspect and atmosphere.
What do you enjoy least about War and Peace and what could you do to improve it?: Facilities - perhaps more mobile shower units could be hired!
The un-invited element who seem to want to spoil it for others.
What is your job in the real world, have you always done this and do you have any military background?: My job is in sales and marketing based around the air cargo industry for 23 years.

Am also a reserve forces officer and have been involved in the military since being an army cadet at age 13. I am now 47.
What is your favourite story about your involvement or a friends involvement in War & Peace?: I have too many to choose from, they are all great and I am sure there will be many more to come.
How do you see the show developing in the future? Will you still be involved and what can you do to promote the future of War & Peace?: It seems to get bigger each year. Try not to swamp it with unnecessary rule, it needs to be kept "as fun as possible". I will keep spreading the gospel.
What military vehicle clubs do you belong to and when did you join?: Heathrow and West London Branch of MVT. Also an MVT member. Approximately 6 years in each.
Do you assist in any other military shows and in what role?: Yes, others throughout the year normally in a living history role only.
Would you support a war and peace show club?: My spare time is very limited but yes I would try and support a club.
Do you own a military vehicle, did you restore this yourself, and are you involved in re-enactment? Have you ever been a trader?: A friend and I own 2 vehicles. We did most of the work but also had lots of help from friends in our group. Have helped "Rolling Thunder" - not a trader.
Do you have photographs of your vehicle(s)?: Yes, I will add them to my gallery
Do you have photographs of your re-enactments?: No
What is the attraction for you about the whole military scene?: I like military history and have been involved for approximately 34 years in one form or another.
When and where did you first become involved in the military hobby?: Age 13 as an army cadet.

Gulf War I SAS 110 Land Rover
LRDG Willys Jeep
Scorpian Tank
Which is your favourite bar at War & Peace and why? And where do you most like to eat?: Ginger Gammons but we do visit all over the week.
We normally cook our own food but do use the fast food vans and pub on site.
Other than War & Peace what is your idea of a perfect weekend?: Spending quite time with my family
