Section: Living History
What is your role and title at War & Peace?: Member of the Gulf War Society, living history display of Op Granby.
Are you happy in your role or is there something else you would prefer to do?: Happy with role.
How many years have you been involved in War & Peace and why did you become involved?: Been attending since 1989, taking part in displays since 1995, firstly Warsaw Pact/E German Group, Gulf War group since 1999.
What do your friends and family think of your involvement, do they support you and in what way?: I think they are quite pleased I have been collecting militaria and had an interest for over 30 years.
Do you travel far to War & Peace, how do you get there and in what?: Only about 14 miles and by car.
Why do you keep coming back for more?: Really enjoy the atmosphere.
What do you enjoy most about War & Peace and what could you add to it?: Showing civilians how our equipment works and what it does. Also the Glenn Miller tent in the evenings.
What do you enjoy least about War and Peace and what could you do to improve it?: Showers and toilet facilities not always up to much.
If there were anything you could change about War & Peace what would it be and how would you assist in making these changes?: Better showers and possibly more dining facilities.
What is your job in the real world, have you always done this and do you have any military background?: Craftsman on a fruit farm, tractor/sprayer operators.
No, I served in The Queens Company, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards. My Father and Grandfather were also in the Army (Royal Engineers).
What is your favourite story about your involvement or a friends involvement in War & Peace?: Meeting Dame Vera Lynn whilst checking tickets at the Miller tent. Also meeting members/ex members of my Regiment.
How do you see the show developing in the future? Will you still be involved and what can you do to promote the future of War & Peace?: I hope the show will continue to attract similar crowds in future years.
What military vehicle clubs do you belong to and when did you join?: None.
Do you assist in any other military shows and in what role?: We attend the Overland show at Harnden and Military Odyssey at Detling.
Would you support a war and peace show club?: Possibly.
Do you own a military vehicle, did you restore this yourself, and are you involved in re-enactment? Have you ever been a trader?: No
Do you have photographs of your vehicle(s)?: No
Do you have photographs of your re-enactments?: Yes, I will add them to my gallery
What is the attraction for you about the whole military scene?: Re-living some of the 'good old days' and giving people the benefit (?!!) of my experience and knowledge.
When and where did you first become involved in the military hobby?: About 1975.
If you had a never ending budget which would be the 5 vehicles you would buy?: Scimitar CVR T

Which is your favourite bar at War & Peace and why? And where do you most like to eat?: Usually the Miller tent we generally eat at our tent encampment.
Other than War & Peace what is your idea of a perfect weekend?: Militaria markets, curry, beer, good company
