Captain Bruce Bairnsfather and Help For Heroes |
36 |
If you knows of a Better Charity,
give to it.
Captain Bruce Bairnsfather was the most famous
cartoonist of the First World War and his impertubable
soldier Old Bill became
the voice of humour for the
Tommies at the front and their families at home, and
the cartoon 'If you knows of a Better Ole go to it' the
most well known of all
cartoons. This 29 September we
are marking the 50th Anniversary of his death
with
the publication of 140 of his cartoons accompanied by
donated modern
drawings by today's leading cartoonists. Those
cartoons will be auctioned at the
Cartoon Museum in London and all
of our Royalties plus the monies from the
auction will go to
Help for Heroes. Please have a look at www.bb4h4h.co.uk

Help for Heroes |
37 |
Help For Heroes was the idea of Bryn Parry and a group of friends and relations, many of who have connections with serving servicemen and women. Bryn and his wife Emma wanted to do something to help the wounded and came up with the idea of a sponsored bike ride. They mentioned it to some friends who mentioned it to some more friends and suddenly Help For Heroes was born and growing fast. A flurry of visits to various offices led to the campaign being blessed by the head of the army, Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Richard Dannatt.

Justgiving - Gary Watson |
39 |
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.
On the 20 April 2009 I set off and walked from Lands End to John O'Groats,
covering a
distance of 1189 miles in 61 days and finished on the 19 June 2009.
Once I finished
I decided that I am going to do it again next
year.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure.
It’s also the most
efficient way to sponsor me: Army Benevolent Fund gets your
money faster and, if
you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift
Aid, plus a 3% supplement,
are added to your donation.
So please sponsor
me now!

George Major's story is a tough one. Abandoned in the 1940s by his
mother, he spent years trying to find her, drawn to the pearly king
tradition from the age
ofeight which he knew was in her family. An
abusive father and a truly
terrifyingmaiden Aunt Hilda saw young
George packed off to an approved school
in Surrey.

PTSD Worldwide - Helping Veterans Find Peace |
1 |
Founded in 2009, PTSD Worldwide is non-profit organization
comprised of veteran volunteers who are committed to guiding our nation's
soldiers on their path to living a productive and fulfilling life after combat.
PTSD Worldwide signature characteristic is its combat veteran volunteers who
mentor, advise and assist other veterans suffering from post traumatic stress
(PTSD).
PTSD Worldwide assists veterans in a number of ways. First,
it provides a forum, or safe zone, called the Safe Soldier Zone Program.
Veterans come together and share their combat and post combat experiences with
other veterans. They also exchange dialogue directly with those who share common
challenges and can offer assistance in coping with the adjustment to peaceful
society. Furthermore, with the encouragement of their peers, combat veterans are
assured that it is indeed normal and suitable to seek further counselling if
necessary.PTSD Worldwide is one of the best tools at helping combat veterans
overcome the stigma within the military of seeking help in coping with post
traumatic stress.
Second, PTSD Worldwide serves as an advocacy organization
which draws attention and awareness to combat veterans suffering from post
traumatic stress. PTSD Worldwide not only reaches out to other veterans, but to
public officials, government representatives and the public at large. We have a
very close link with our marine friends who fought alongside us in all conflicts
there Organisation also does such a great rewarding job call ACVOW Our doors are
open for any veteran seeking help. Please stop by.
