The development of the German Kriegsmarine is especially described, together with the development, construction and use of the Adolf Guns. The German development of the coastal artillery in Norway, but also the batteries in Poland and France. Of special interest to British readers is that the Adolf Guns in Batterie Lindemann near Calais were used by the Germans from 1942-44 in the heavy bombardment of the costal area at Dover and the Allied shipping in the Straight of Dover
